Pocket Aces Playing Cards

Description

The design concept for this deck is something we like to call selective minimalism. First, we removed as much as possible from a deck of playing cards without sacrificing playability. Next, we highlighted what remained through design that celebrates the smallest of details. Finally, we laid in a heavy dose of luxury by using casino grade crushed stock, copper hot foil details on both card faces, copper gilded edges, and a luxurious “soft touch” tuck box adorned with copper foil.

The oversized X on the front and back of the tuck box is meant to act as a placeholder for where a brand or deck’s identity typically would go. While we use the X to represent ourselves, it is really meant to highlight the absence of branding. We aspire to have our products become the totality of the experience through the thoughtful use of color, materiality, and a pared-back graphic aesthetic that celebrates the smallest of material details. To that end, our tuck box boasts a deep Navy card stock with soft touch lamination that feels like rose petals to the touch. Each surface of the tuck box displays a singular piece of information in copper foil, adding a contrasting reflectivity to the deeply matte card stock.
