Vạn-Xuân (pronounced van-swun) is a limited edition deck of Vietnamese-inspired playing cards. Each face card was illustrated by hand and based on a historical or cultural figure from Vietnam. The design is fully customized, including the four pips (hearts, spades, diamonds, clubs) and the entire tuck box. Vạn-Xuân, meaning “ten thousand springs,” was once a name for Vietnam. I chose this name, Vạn-Xuân: The Land of Eternal Spring, to encompass the breadth of time explored in the artwork, from the oldest dynasty during the Bronze Age to the last dynasty in the twentieth century.
